Adventure Based Counselling

Inter-Action is sponsoring Inter-Action Adventure Based Counselling, a not-for-profit (soon to be incorporated) association which we hope will begin programmes in 2009.  

 

DRAFT IA ABC VISION- MISSION ETC

Vision:

    Groups of young people in the Northern Rivers region focus on their growth, resilience and connectedness by undertaking outdoor adventure

Mission:

    To provide adventure based counseling services to organisations and communities 

Values:

  • IA ABC values positive:
  • Attitude
  • Behaviour
  • Commitment

Aims:

  • Young people:
  • Have and maintain a home
  • Are employed or in education
  • Control their drug and alcohol use
  • Are psychologically healthy / mentally well - what are the right words?
  • Are valued community members
  • Are not involved in the justice system

Objectives:

  • To partner with agencies and services which provide therapeutic counselling for young people
  • To assist communities to use adventure to connect with and mentor their young people 
  • To promote and improve Adventure Based Counselling for young people 
  • To conduct Adventure Based Counselling for young people within the limits of IA ABC's counselling ability 
  • To assist young people to keep the friendships and the personal commitments they make on IA ABC programmes

Client Group

Young people who:

  • Want help meeting the Aims (having some issues with the six aims described above)
  • Are supported by a youth service or community organisation (who sponsors them? Is this a way of ensuring follow up?)
  • Have made a commitment to change (part of the intake assessment)
  • Have the ability to change
